A  continuation/alternate version of Hack Rom, Pokémon Crystal Advance.

 

  

▪️ Update all available Pokémon to have expanded level-up sets, based on Gen 7 learnsets, learnable TMs, Move tutors and Egg moves. Many Pokémon have become more diverse, even ones that usually have no viability (such as Sentret/Furret who is now a decent Item hunter with Frisk and learning Thief+Covet early on). Movesets are now more balanced towards the particular Pokemons best offensive stat. Since this game has PSS (Physical/Special split) this was easily doable (E.g., Quagsire will learn mostly physical based moves). This in itself makes some Pokémon more viable for use. Some Pokemon who's learnsets suck, have either expanded moves based on what they can already learn, or based on outside influences such as the TCG or recorded uses in the Anime (E.g., Caterpie/ Weedle can learn Headbutt/Horn Attack, Sticky Web and Spider Web before it evolves)

 

▪️Update all Pokémon Stats to their Gen 7 values. This means certain Pokémon such as Beedrill and Butterfree feel a little more powerful.

 

▪️Update most Pokémon to have two abilities. A few Pokémon are simply not viable to do this (such as slakoth/slaking). This makes some others normally overlooked Pokémon to be fun to use (E.g., Prankster Volbeat and Illumise).

 

▪️Reinstate certain areas from Pokémon Liquid Crystal (the base ROM Pokémon Crystal Advance was built on), such as the Goldenrod Science Centre. I am afraid this does not include the Orange islands; that section took up too much space Vs what was available at the time of removal.

 

▪️Enable capture of most Pokémon up to Gen 4. Johto's Spawns are already basically done. Kanto's are a work-in-progress currently.

▪️ Higher difficulty curve; The game has had some balancing, by the time you get to Johto Elite 4, trainer's will be 10 levels higher than base 2nd Gen elite 4. Red is almost 20 levels higher on average. Wild Pokémon levels have also been adjusted to compensate for this.

 

▪️ Better item availability; Many Pokémon evolve using an item of some sort...this is common knowledge. However, here every Pokémon that has an evolution that uses an item or stone now has a chance of being encountered holding the required item (Except for Eevee, which has a chance of holding an Ice Stone, the only current way to get one in the game). You are also able to buy Ethers and PP Ups from the Dept Stores

 ▪️you will find yourself grinding a little more so having access to buyable Ethers will alleviate that a little.

 

▪️Increased double battle opportunities; I like double battles, so all gym leaders now also like them, and will not hesitate to try and ruin your day with them.

▫️Combee, Pachirisu, Buizel, Cherubi, Shellos (both forms), Driftloon, Buneary, Glameow, Stunky, Bronzor, Chatot, Spiritomb, Gible, Riolu, Hippopotas, Skorupi, Croagunk, Carnivine, Finneon, Snover and Rotom lines have had their moves stats and abilities upodated

 

▫️ For those who like the Flower Gift form of Cherrim (as the ability isnt coded), its now possible to get it via evolution method (using a sun stone). Still normal method for closed flower version (level 25)

 

▫️Tweaked dragons Den script that gives you a free Dratini. Since standard Dratini has Extremespeed at level 1, the duplicated option is no longer necessary. This will also (not-so coincidentally) repair the Hall of Fame issue (existing gifted Dratini's will not be fixed)

 

▫️Skorupi, Croagunk, Carnivine, Finneon, Snover and Rotom lines have had their moves stats and abilities updated.

 

▫️Tweaked dragons Den script that gives you a free Dratini. Since standard Dratini has Extremespeed at level 1, the duplicated option is no longer necessary. This will also (not-so coincidentally) repair the Hall of Fame issue (existing gifted Dratini's will not be fixed) - Trainers in Cerulean Gym have been updated

 

◻️Future plans

 

🔸Once I have gotten the game into a completable state from start to finish with as few bugs as possible, I plan on doing the following;

 

🔸 Adding in Gen 5 Pokémon.

 

🔸 Adding a Nuzlocke mode into the game. 

🔸 After finding a script hidden in game for dive spots, I'm thinking I may add in some post- game shortcuts for certain areas (for example a direct route from Goldenrod to Olivine via route 34) and will be using them to facilitate access to gen 3 (and maybe gen 4 also) legendaries
